Inspired by the coworking idea and the Coworking Initiative Stuttgart, I developed the desire to create a similar platform for freelancers, creatives and freelancers from various industries in Erfurt. What is coworking?
Coworking (also co-working, English “working together”) is a trend in the area of ​​new forms of work that has been emerging for several years. Freelancers, creatives and smaller startups who operate independently or are active in different companies and projects usually work together in a larger space and can thus benefit from each other. Coworking enables the formation of a community, which can be strengthened through joint events, workshops, and other activities. However, use always remains non-binding and flexible in terms of time. Spaces created in this way are also called “coworking spaces.”
Coworking spaces
Most coworking spaces are located in the USA, but similar locations already exist or are currently being created in numerous European cities. There are currently around six to ten well-known coworking spaces in Germany, which are supplemented by various smaller, sometimes very young groups throughout Germany. The aim of these independent initiatives is to raise awareness of coworking and establish it as an effective working method. The initiatives are currently organizing so-called “coworking days,” where people meet weekly or at specific intervals to work together. Coworking initiatives work together throughout Germany and worldwide.
